You might not normally think of church, porn and football in the same context. But it’s happening this weekend as XXX Church’s Craig Gross intentionally combines National Porn Sunday with the Super Bowl. Craig recruited NFL players to appear in a video that will be played in hundreds of churches this weekend.
CNN calls it The Church of Porn and Football.
“Gross hopes that churches will put the issue out in the open.
“’Just talking about this once isn’t going to solve your porn problem,’ he said. ‘A lot of churches feel like they’re not equipped to handle it.’
“’When the wife confronts the husbands… then you’ve got the church dealing with the fall out,’ he continued. ‘A big part of what (Sunday) is about is prevention. Let’s talk about this ahead of time.'”
Craig says a goal is to get churches talking about the “elephant in the pew” and get people help that are struggling with porn and sex addiction.
The “elephant in the pew” makes us uncomfortable. Frankly, the triple X’s with the word church make us uncomfortable. But the fact that many Christians, both single and married, dabble in porn is no longer the Church’s “dirty little secret.” To that end, the XXX Church website offers free accountability software, online Bible studies and support groups.
