Our new message series “Scars” begins this weekend, on Easter. On a weekend when many normally non-religious or people of lapsed faith choose to attend church out of a sense of tradition, we thought this was a topic that would connect with everyone. Everyone has scars – some visible, some not. Marks from the hard places of life where we were broken, cut, wounded.
On Good Friday, Jesus endured flogging, a crown of thorns, nails in his hands and feet, a stab wound in his side. His crucifixion and death bring us forgiveness and life. His scars bring healing.
As Isaiah said,
“He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering…But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his scars we are healed.”
Jan! You have a new blog design, it’s cool.
